At the Glastonbury Festival in 2024, filled with bubblegum, pop-punk star Avril Lavigne brought back her 2002 hit “Sk8er Boi” to a packed audience of 70,000 at The Other Stage.
During her first Glastonbury performance, Avril sang a lineup of twelve of her top songs. The concert started with the chart-topping song “Girlfriend” from 2007, and then moved on to slower songs such as “Complicated” and “My Happy Ending.” The audience went crazy during “Sk8ter Boi,” joining in with the words and shouting the famous guitar riff.
Avril Lavigne will perform “Sk8er Boi” at Glastonbury 2024.
Avril Lavigne, rumored to have possibly been swapped with a doppelganger in 2003, wore a Y2K-inspired ensemble on her pink-spattered stage, featuring a tartan miniskirt with buckles, straps, and chains, a crumpled Union Flag on her cropped black jacket, fishnet tights, ripped over-the-knee socks, and flat, knee-high platform boots.
Because so many people attended Avril’s Glasto show, festival attendees couldn’t participate in the mayhem as the crowd from The Other Stage spilled over into the camping area. The festival organizers were criticized for not predicting the growing popularity of nostalgia-driven performances and for favoring younger musicians on the main stage. Excessive crowding at Sugababes caused the West Holts stage to shut down and resulted in complaints of audience members fainting.
